Equipment for advanced semiconductor production

Applied Materials supplies semiconductor manufacturing equipment and services. AI demand can increase customers’ investment in leading-edge chips, memory and advanced packaging, creating demand for its tools. Revenue ultimately depends on equipment shipments, qualification and service activity across a global customer base that also serves many non-AI applications.

Third-quarter fiscal 2026 performance

Applied reported $9.12 billion of revenue in the third quarter of fiscal 2026, including $7.04 billion from Semiconductor Systems and $1.78 billion from services. Operating cash flow was $3.037 billion, free cash flow was $2.33 billion and cash totaled $7.037 billion. Those segment sales are not AI-only revenue.

Research and manufacturing capacity have expanded

Applied opened its EPIC research center, supported by a $5 billion capital investment, and opened a new Singapore factory. More than 37,000 processing chambers used its AIx software. These are delivered facilities and software adoption milestones; future commercial tool shipments remain a separate measure of financial contribution.

Scaling output toward 2028

The company said hiring and training would support a goal of doubling quarterly system output by 2028. It also expected packaging revenue to grow more than 70% in calendar 2026. Research collaboration at EPIC aims to accelerate innovation, but does not turn the center’s investment cost into customer revenue.

Customer readiness still shapes deliveries

Management said customer cleanroom constraints had eased and requests for tool delivery had increased. Rolling eight-quarter customer forecasts support production planning, while qualification and fab readiness determine actual deployment. Growth in advanced packaging or memory does not mean every related sale is attributable solely to AI workloads.

Follow qualified tools into customer fabs

Equipment shipments, customer acceptance and services growth will show how demand converts into revenue. Packaging performance in calendar 2026 and manufacturing progress toward the 2028 output goal provide concrete measures. The research center’s longer-term value will depend on technologies reaching commercial production, beyond the fact of its opening.

Documented project connections

Each connection below has a specific, cited role. A supplier, lender, customer or proposed acquirer has different economics from the project owner.

No named tracked-project role has been established by the evidence used for this profile. This does not mean the company has no AI exposure.

Evidence boundaries

Company totals, segment sales, bookings, backlog, spending, capacity and usage describe different things. They do not establish project-level revenue, earnings or an exact AI-only revenue share unless the cited disclosure explicitly says so.

This is a dated research snapshot. Forecasts are attributed expectations, and undisclosed amounts remain unknown. Source review does not certify every project or future outcome.
