Business and AI exposure

Gartner sells research, advisory services and related offerings to business and technology decision-makers. AskGartner adds AI-assisted access to its research. AI is also a major subject of client advice, creating demand for expertise while changing how customers search for and consume information.

Financial context

For Q2 2026, Gartner reported $1.676 billion of revenue, $275 million of net income and $5.3 billion of contract value. Operating cash flow was $398 million and free cash flow was $378 million. None of these measures isolates AI-related business.

Products and delivery

AskGartner had been enabled for the full client base by October 2025. Gartner reported more than 500,000 AI questions, 6,000 AI documents and 200,000 AI client conversations. These are engagement measures rather than separately priced product revenue.

Plans and commitments

Gartner is incorporating AI into research access and publishing productivity, with engagement intended to support renewals and contract-value growth. The offering is available within the client relationship; its disclosures do not provide a separate AskGartner subscription price or retained profit figure.

Economics and dependencies

Client budgets and approval delays affect spending even as AI remains the most-requested research topic. AI tools can also alter research consumption and competitive alternatives. Gartner has not quantified losses attributable to AI substitution, so that possibility remains distinct from an observed financial outcome.

What to watch

Renewals, contract-value growth and client engagement will show whether AI-related demand supports the wider subscription business. At June 2026, cash was approximately $1.5 billion and debt approximately $3 billion. These company finances provide context for investment in the research platform.

Documented project connections

Each connection below has a specific, cited role. A supplier, lender, customer or proposed acquirer has different economics from the project owner.

No named tracked-project role has been established by the evidence used for this profile. This does not mean the company has no AI exposure.

Evidence boundaries

Company totals, segment sales, bookings, backlog, spending, capacity and usage describe different things. They do not establish project-level revenue, earnings or an exact AI-only revenue share unless the cited disclosure explicitly says so.

This is a dated research snapshot. Forecasts are attributed expectations, and undisclosed amounts remain unknown. Source review does not certify every project or future outcome.
