Financial context

In its first-half 2026 filing, Tesla reported $8.63 billion of operating cash flow and $8.28 billion of capital spending. Cash and short-term investments were $43.52 billion. Expected full-year capital spending above $25 billion covers AI and other infrastructure, factories and networks.

Delivery and commitments

The July update described Fremont production-line installation for initial Optimus builds in 2026, intended for internal training and data collection. Cybercab production had begun, while employee testing and regulatory steps preceded public-fleet deployment. Installed Cortex 2 capacity did not establish utilization.

Costs, funding and dependencies

Manufacturing execution, safety validation, permits, model performance and customer use determine commercialization. The company noted possible external funding needs as investment rises. Internal robots and testing fleets should not be presented as external customer sales.

What to watch next

Check initial production, public deployment permissions and paid usage separately. Tesla identified October 21 as its next reporting date; the date alone does not promise a particular AI milestone.

Documented project connections

Each connection below has a specific, cited role. A supplier, lender, customer or proposed acquirer has different economics from the project owner.

Colossus Memphis — SpaceXAI / xAI

Battery-storage supplier identified by xAI: the operator says it integrated more than 200 Tesla Megapacks at Colossus for backup and demand response.

This is the operator’s reported installation, not independently measured inventory or disclosed Tesla project revenue. Tesla is not identified as the campus owner.

Evidence boundaries

Company totals, segment sales, bookings, backlog, spending, capacity and usage describe different things. They do not establish project-level revenue, earnings or an exact AI-only revenue share unless the cited disclosure explicitly says so.

This is a dated research snapshot. Forecasts are attributed expectations, and undisclosed amounts remain unknown. Source review does not certify every project or future outcome.
